The Lessons One Learn As You Push On!

For once, I thought that the saying, “Best made plans for mice and man,” would not apply to something I was doing. I hope that everything will work according to plan. That all involved would carry out their assigned task skillfully, thoroughly, and timely. That the schedule that has already been pushed back a month would suffer no more delays.

Thankfully there is no shame in hoping!

You know that I lost my mind the day I received my author’s copy if you follow me on Facebook.  Wanting to ensure that the layout was correct and that the manuscript was printed right, I sent two copies of my book to be examined by other eyes. I also sent out the e-book draft to ensure that the print flowed correctly. What hit me, I was not expecting.

Whatever you do, work at it wholeheartedly as though you were doing it for the Lord and not merely for people. [Colossians 3:17, ISV]

When the first reader responded with questions about the book, she pointed out some very glaring errors that just should not exist. Then the second reader called, ok, hearing the first errors. I thought this call would be a repeat, WRONG! She had another set of mistakes and only four from the original group I received. I was unhappy, especially after paying for an editor to review my work. The final review was right after formatting. However, two critical lessons came out of this process: 1) have different editors 2) have your friends read the manuscript before submitting it for e-book conversion.

I could not all possibly send out work knowing with errors, so I shut everything down and resubmitted everything to be redrafted in the proper form. For this reason, May 17th came and went without my books being released.

The God I Serve!

See, this was a distraction, as with every other life issue that has popped up in the past week, but I committed to God and myself and will not quit till it is done.  After contacting the designer for the paperback and converter for the e-book, God allowed the turnaround to come quickly. For this reason, I asked that you be patient with me as I reset the release date of NO LATER THAN May 24th.
